Elder Abuse and Neglect

Case Types

Elder Abuse and Neglect

Elder abuse encompasses physical violence, emotional mistreatment, financial exploitation, and neglect. The U.S. Administration for Community Living estimates that one in ten older adults experiences abuse, but only one in twenty-four cases is ever reported.

Neglect, such as withholding food, hygiene assistance, or medical care, is especially insidious, as it often goes unnoticed until serious harm occurs. Facilities must adhere to care plans, staffing ratios, and reporting requirements. Survivors of abuse often face long-term psychological trauma, post-traumatic stress, and renewed distrust of caregivers, and financial exploitation can strip elders of their life savings.

Brauns Law stands with plaintiffs to challenge abusive facilities and secure the full range of damages allowed under Georgia law. We investigate allegations of elder abuse and neglect in Georgia nursing homes and fight aggressively for victims and their families.
